Miles turns 6 months old :)

6 month stats:

Weight: Approximately 20 pounds.
Height: Not sure but pretty long!
Eating: Breastfeeding every 2-3 hours. Also trying random foods but nothing consistent.
Clothes: The best fit is 12 month.
Diaper: Size 3.

My Miles

I know I say this with each passing month but I'm in awe that you are here, that you are ours, that you are with us. Roughly 1 year ago, we told Layla & Benny about you. And 1 year ago today, we found out you were a boy (to my complete SHOCK)! I know that these past 6 months will become my favorite time in my life. I have zero doubt that you are meant to be ours - this perfect, sweet boy.

You are really awesome at playing on your own - you like the playmat with the toys hanging down, the jumper is your favorite, the walker is a great time - but your newest trick of sitting unassisted for long periods of time is the best!! I really don't need to prop you up any longer - you'll just sit happily and play with toys. You are finally rolling every which way but sometimes get stuck when you on your belly. But you can roll and FAR - If we leave you on the mat, you'll be a few feet away in no time!

Quite frankly, we are exhausted. You have not mastered the art of sleeping - you wake up CONSTANTLY - sometimes every 2 hours, or more. It's so hard. We just got back from a little vacation in Orlando (where you slept in our bed...) and you came back with a nasty cold. SO... as soon as you feel better, it's time to sleep train. As of now, we see each other often but at least you're in your crib. You sleep in this silly Merlin Sleep Suit and look ridiculous - I'll also be switching you to sleep sacks. You nap really well in your stroller so that's where the bulk of your naps take place - or on me - or in the car.

You have been trying tons of new foods. You don't seem to like anything mushed or baby food - you prefer the real thing!! You've tried: banana, oatmeal, mango, cantaloupe, french fries, pizza crust, rye bread with butter, sweet & sour sauce, white rice, fried rice, hummus, pita, sweet potato, pineapple, honeydew, carrots, eggs & whipped cream. I'm hoping to have you sit in the high chair at dinner time to try whatever we are eating for dinner.

Your weeks are currently spent with our nanny, Maddyn one day a week - Mom Mom & Pop Pop two days a week and Dada/I the rest. Starting in December, you'll have a new nanny every Monday, Wednesday & Friday - with Mom Mom and Pop Pop the other two days.

I'm really hoping you start sucking your thumb or a finger soon - I think this would help with nighttime and generally calming you down when you're really upset.

You love your bath - you just started sitting up in your tub and it's so cute.

This past month has been really fun - the highlights being Halloween and Orlando - you went on your first ride at LegoLand (the train!) and you are a trooper. Always hanging strong and smiling at anyone that will smile back.

Your family loves you so much - you are a joy to be around and we love you beyond words. If you start sleeping, I'll be forever grateful ;)
All my love,
Mama

MILES IS 5 MONTHS OLD!!

5 month stats:
Weight: 18 pounds or so! ALL the rolls.
Height: Not sure but pretty tall.
Eating: Eating every 2 hours, basically still 24 hours a day.
Clothes: ... 6 months, 9 months and some 12 months.
Diaper: We just switched to size 3 and they are much better.

MILES SAMSON!

5 months.... the cutest, roundest, sweetest boy in all the land.

I can't believe it's been 5 months since I woke up in the middle of the night, 1 week prior to your scheduled arrival, in labor.

You are the sweetest little man. Just so full of joy and happiness - everyone around you is enamored by your sweet face and delicious cuddles. I can't tell you how much all of your cousins fight over who gets to hold you next. You get passed around and happily bounce from one set of arms to the next!

You are REALLY LOUD - like a dinosaur, but cuter. You love screaming, yelling, screeching - anything to hear yourself! You love playing on your mat and REALLY love jumping in the jumparoo!! You are also great at just laying on a blanket surrounded by toys and can happily chew on whatever is in front of you. You've rolled over a few times but nothing consistent - you are great on your tummy. You were sucking your thumb a little while there, but gave that up. Same with the pacifier - sometimes you love it, sometimes you don't want it. I think it all has to do with that tooth popping through on the top - it's close to showing and probably hurts so bad. Poor buddy.

I know I'm writing this 5 days past your 5 month celebration but you are officially OUT OF OUR ROOM!!! You are in your crib and as of last night (night 3), you slept nearly 7 hours without needing me. This both breaks my heart and makes me SO PROUD. I feel bad because your sleep (and mine) were so bad for so long in my bed but I just couldn't let you go. However, now that we have moved you - you're really loving life in your crib! You wear this magic suit thing that makes you look ridiculous but I think it helps you feel snuggled and secure. You are also napping much better - usually 3 naps per days - one long morning, one long afternoon, one shorter in late afternoon. I'm so proud of you - I think Mom-Mom really got you on a great schedule. You love to sleep in the stroller so that's where the bulk of your naps are happening.

You've tried a few different foods - so far nothing is sticking! You tried baby oatmeal once and hated it. You tried 4 french fries and loved them (hahaha). You tried rice (hated it), bananas (gagged), sweet & sour sauce (loved it!) and a Wendy's Frosty (LOVED IT). We will really start foods closer to 6 months but so far, breast milk is your fav!

You really love the car - you didn't for so long and now we use it if we need you to take a nap. You love when people are in the back row of the minivan - you're a big fan of car companions :) You love having toys with you at all times but especially in the car.

You are still teething but luckily I don't think it's as bad as it was before. I give you Tylenol from time to time to help with the pain and you still drool all over the place.

Every one's favorite job is to make you giggle - it's the sweetest best sound!!!

You really, really love the bath. You don't play yet but the water seems to really soothe you. The kids fight over who gets to sit in the tub at the same time as you - you're the most popular baby in our house!

You are the best addition and we're so thankful you are ours. I love your face - your big brown/blue eyes (which I think will eventually be brown) and your hair which is finally starting to really come in (dark) is so so cute.

We are heading to Florida in a couple of weeks for a wedding - this will be your third time there - pretty awesome!! Except this time, you'll get to experience DISNEY WORLD!!! Wahoo!!!!

We love you Miles Samson.

MYMY TURNS 4 MONTHS!

4 month stats:
Weight: LARGE AND IN CHARGE! I'll find out your weight tomorrow.
Height: No idea.
Eating: Exclusively breastfeeding every 2 hours.
Clothes: 6 months fit you best.
Diaper: Size 2 (But almost ready for size 3)

My littlest love...

I know I'm 8 days late in writing this. In the midst of school starting, you not sleeping (like, ever) and work, I haven't had the chance to write but believe me - you're always on my mind!!

You are the sweetest, warmest little bundle of squish that we all can't get enough of. This has been a big month for you - a trip to South Florida to attend your Great Grandma's funeral and your first time to the Outer Banks were the highlight. But you've also grown leaps and bounds (both physically and mentally!) You are REALLY noisy.. you love hearing your own voice and your giggle is just the best. You've learned to really enjoy toys - you grab them and chew and play a ton. You are on/off again with the pacifier and sucking your thumb. Poor buddy - teething has taken over. We feel a tooth popping through on the top and I think it's really put you in a lot of pain.

You sleep in our bed (still...) and to be honest, it's just not going well. Your up ALL NIGHT LONG nursing and cuddling and kicking. It's tough on both our ends. I know I need to move you to the crib but I'm just scared. I love waking up and seeing your face. When you finally open your eyes in the morning and see my face, you literally LIGHT UP. A smile spread so big it could make anyone giggle. It's the best. BUT - these nights are long. Over the weekend, you only woke up twice and I thought we had reached a great point but alas, your back to waking often. You also don't nap well... you went from sleeping ALL THE TIME to needing more daytime sleep. We're working on it and I hope to get you on a good schedule soon.

Ironically, after hating the car..you now love it and almost immediately fall asleep (which is good because now I can throw you in the car if you need a nap!)

You LOVE the bath - I can't get over it because Layla & Benny both HATED it for so long. Benny has really loved taking baths with you and I can't wait until your big enough for the two of you to take real baths together.

I can't get over how big and round you are - still my little baby but oh my, you're heavy. The cutest little squishy man.

This has been a month of change - you were coming to my office everyday but that's getting harder to do so now we have various helpers. Maddyn on Mondays, Mom-Mom on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dada & I the rest. It's tricky but we make it work!

You love a good walk in the stroller - it's really fun to take family walks together - London, the pup, loves it the most!!

In Outer Banks - you were the biggest hit of all. Your cousins ALL fought over holding you, playing with you and loving you. You seemed to like the beach. Being around family is my favorite thing in the world and it's obvious you love it too!

Being in Florida for GG's Funeral was really hard but you were so sweet and beautiful. I nursed you in a side room while the rabbi did the ceremony - it felt so full circle. Saying goodbye to our beautiful GG, 95 years old, while I fed you with tears falling.

You are starting to attempt to roll over - you've done it a couple of times but I think it's because the bed was dipping down. I have no doubt you'll start rolling over constantly soon!!!

One year ago today, I found out I was pregnant with you. I was terrified - and then, like a bright light, you entered our world and it was fate. You & I are a pair - a match made.

Thank you for being you - so go with the flow, so beautiful, so sweet. We love you so much buddy - cheers to 4 months!!

I love you, always.
Your Mama
