My dearest boy...
Here we are, another month come & gone. You are simply a joy to be around. Your smile is infectious and your laugh makes everyone around you giggle. Your personality is really starting to shine and it's so lovely to observe. You are the perfect combo -- a climbing, dancing, singing, yelling, clapping, running machine but you are also an observer. You do things in your own time and usually while holding my hand. You are tentative when it comes to trying new things but with a little help you love learning to do new actives.

With all of your running, you're rolls are all but a distant memory. My 10 pound, 1 ounce baby boy is now becoming thinner!! You're VERY tall for your age (95th percentile) but now you're in the 75th percentile for weight. Your doctor said he was surprised you had lost a bit of weight but I wasn't -- you eat like a maniac and then immediately burn off all those calories with jumping & playing. Your hair is getting lighter by the second and I think your last haircut chopped off all of the little baby curls that had grown in :(
You absolutely love to be outside. We play in the street with the neighbors and you giggle the whole way. You love to step off the driveway and applaud yourself each time -- you like to go on the swing set but sometimes you just want to watch versus swinging. Your favorite toys continue to be balls & the slide in our living room. You like to read and sit in the car -- you love the ball pit in the basement and you love building castles with blocks.

You're a very good listener. If I ask you a question (bring me a diaper, go get Brian, etc) you always understand and mostly listen. It's amazing to me how smart you are. Your favorite person in the world is Layla and you can't get enough of her. You now chase each other and play all the time - it's so sweet and funny. Sometimes you take her toys and bolt away to make her chase you. She hates it but you love it ;)

Still not a fan of the TV -- you'll watch a few seconds of Doc McStuffins or Jacks Big Music Show but then turn your attention to a toy (or your Mama) -- this is fine with me!! You love music and your favorite CDs are the music class music. You light up with each new song and dance all around. Your new favorite move is to spin - it's adorable!!

You continue to sleep 11-12 hours a night -- you go to bed around 6:30 and wake up around 6:30. Today you woke up closer to 6:00 AM and I was able to rock you a bit then put you back to bed where I had to wake you at 7:00 AM. I have helped you get rid of morning nap which is a HUGE help because now we can play a lot more in the morning. If we're in the car around 10 AM, you're almost guaranteed to fall asleep but I usually wake you within 30 minutes. You nap in the afternoon for around 3 hours (I usually wake you after that) and you LOVE your sleep. As long as you have your thumb & Brian, you're happy! I even ordered a second Brian on Ebay (Mom-Mom helped me find him) so that's been a huge help. We now keep one Brian upstairs & one downstairs!

You are continuing to learn new words everyday - you soak up everything we say and it's so much fun to listen.

Food is a breeze with you (total opposite of Layla) - you'll try everything and LOVE to eat, almost every hour! There are very few foods you dislike and it's so much easier!! Sometimes I cut you off because you'll eat constantly otherwise - my little piggy!!

Unfortunately, we've dealt with countless ear infections in the past few months. It's no fun and I feel so bad you're always on antibiotics (I think you've had 12-13 in your short 16 months) -- I'm going to talk to the doctor about getting tubes. I hate to think about surgery but hopefully it'll be quick & painless and we can finally rid you of these infections.

Our schedules are flexible and changing -- right now we have music class on Monday along with Pop-Pop lunch & Romp & Roll on Wednesday. Otherwise, lots of playing, lots of time in the gym and lots of napping. I love watching you at class - you take everything in, dance a bunch and like to hug the other kids. At Romp & Roll, it's mostly boys and you are the sweetest of them all. They all wrestle and run like maniacs while you play with the balls, cuddle with mama and count everything around you. It's so sweet & fun to see.

With the warmer temps finally here to stay, I'm excited for all we have to discover. The pool, sesame place, the zoo, the aquarium, the train & more. I love every second I get to spend with you & watching you grow. You're just the most special little boy and a joy to be around.

Now that you're becoming a true toddler, my mind always wonders when we'll add a 3rd little babe to our crew. I know you'd be the best big brother because you're so very loving. One day -- but for now, you're my sweet baby. Love you always.
