Flo-Rida!! 10/12/12-10/17/12

A bit late but a little recap of our FABULOUS (and very sleep-deprived) vacation to Orlando & Fort Lauderdale!!!

BSE in Orlando!!

We arrived on Friday afternoon after a non-exciting (the best type) of flight to Orlando. I was concerned as Layla is now a girl on the go, but she was perfect on the flight. Never fell asleep but laid on my lap and rested, watching assorted movies, eating assorted snacks and laughing at various fellow passengers. Josh's parent's picked us up and we drove to our hotel - the World Quest Resort (about 1 mile outside of Disney World but basically ON Disney property) - it was fantastic. We got a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo-style resort - complete with a full kitchen, full living room, dining room and screened in porch. It was lovely and perfect for us (not to mention the price was amazing) - I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay. Also - they have a huge, gorgeous pool (which we didn't take advantage of) and a free continental breakfast which was great. After we settled in, chose our rooms and set everything up, Layla promptly went in for a nap and slept great (in our bathroom - it was the only place that was big and dark enough to setup the pack and play, lol). She woke up and Josh's sister, Sydney, arrived shortly after. We all got ready and went to Downtown Disney for dinner and walking around. We had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant and then decided to walk around a bit. Layla was in HEAVEN - she loved everything Disney -- especially the big statues of the princesses and the Woody & Buzz lego set-up. She squealed in delight and loved running around. It was so nice -- they were even set-up for Halloween so we got some fun pictures. We went back to the hotel and all passed out - it was a great day.

Josh and her grandparents at Downtown Disney!!

Loving the princesses!!

Love of my life.

Josh and her grandparents again!!

Saturday, Layla woke up around 5:30 AM but had slept all the way through so we couldn't be annoyed - we cuddled in bed before handing her off to the grandparents. Of course within about 12 hours, she learned how to open all the bedroom doors so I was up for the day as well ;) We had breakfast, played and then Layla took her morning nap. I was so excited because she was sleeping so perfect. After nap time, Sydney went to Disney world and Josh, Layla, his parents and myself went to our Alma Mater - UCF!!! It was SO MUCH FUN - it was lovely to show Layla where we met and fell in love. The campus is insanely beautiful and I'd give anything to spend another year (or four) going to school there. We walked around, visited Josh's Kappa Sigma fraternity house (including taking Layla inside - it smelled gross, just how I remembered it) - had lunch at Wackadoos (YUM), went to the book store and spent an obscene amount of money on clothes, took some pictures, then decided between the heat and Layla, it was best if we went back to the hotel. It was a great day and we had so much fun. Layla took a nice afternoon nap and Josh & I made plans for a date night. We ended up having dinner at this AWESOME restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge- holy moly was it good. We ate at Jiko (without reservations!!) - and it was so so much fun. The whole resort is surrounded by animals and we were able to see a lot of them - giraffes, birds, and so much more! Dinner was SO good and we were happily full before deciding to go back to the hotel.

kisses <3

Family picture at UCF - one of my favorite spots on campus.

Sunday, Layla woke up at 5:30 AM again -- but slept through! We woke up early and made plans for the day. Thus began the lack of sleep. We tried to put Layla in for a nap and she started SCREAMING - bad. She was clearly scared or nervous and could not settle down. I tried getting ready and leaving for my sorority's 10th anniversary brunch but felt so guilty leaving Layla in hysterics. Eventually I had to leave and later found out Josh calmed her down but she never napped. Blah. They (Josh, his parents, Sydney and Layla) went to Seaworld while I went to my brunch. It was a really lovely time and it was so nice to see so many sisters. Our sorority is in the process of getting a house on campus which is SO EXCITING - I'm really proud to be a founding sister and can't wait to see the house completed!! After brunch, I decided I'd meet them at Seaworld (thanks to half off tickets from our Sesame Place season pass!) - it was so much fun. Layla passed out as we walked backed to the car and was in a deep sleep for about 20 minutes before I parked and everyone got out of the car - just enough noise for her to wake up :( BLAH. No afternoon nap. We ordered dinner in, settled in to bed, and our LONG night began. Layla woke up sometime around 2 AM and could not settle down. Somehow Josh managed to rock her back to sleep and she passed out in bed with us (first time since she was a little babe) - we all slept like rocks.

Playing with Dada!!

Josh's mom woke us up on Monday to remind us we had reservations for breakfast with the characters. Exhausted but excited, we quickly packed and went to a yummy breakfast at the Yacht Beach Club & Resort - last time, Layla was terrified of the characters but this time she was LOVING IT!! It was great and the perfect way to end our trip in Orlando. We packed up the car and started the 3+ hour car trip back to Fort Lauderdale. Sometime within the first 30 minutes, Layla passed out and did not wake up again until we pulled into the garage at Josh's parents house. SLEEPY was an understatement. Poor girl. We spent the day relaxing and seeing family. That night, Layla & I went to grab ice cream with Laura - now that it's out in the public, I'm SO SO SO excited my best friend from college is having a baby in APRIL! I couldn't be happier for her & Clay and I love that our babies will be so close in age. I'm secretly hoping she has a boy so that our little guys can be BFF. Josh went to Miami that night to see some friends -- we put Layla in for bed. She passed out and later woke up multiple times, crying and unable to sleep. It was terrible. I barely got any sleep and either did Josh. She seemed really scared and the only way she got comfortable was by sleeping ON me. Frustrating.

Hi Donald Duck!!!

Big hugs!!!

Um, please don't smother her.

A little nervous of Goofy but liked him if he sat down :)

They all loved Layla's high ponytail!

Minne Mouse hugs!!!!

Tuesday was a day of napping on mama, swimming in the pool, lunch with Josh's grandparents and lots of playing. We were ALL exhausted but made the best of it!! That night, Layla and I went to Deerfield Beach to have our pictures taken by my dear friend, Oona. She is SO talented and has started her own photography company (Isla Charm photography) - I'd highly recommend her to anyone. We took the pictures on the beach and it was so much fun. Layla loved playing in the sand and was such a good girl for the pictures -- I can't wait to the pictures!! I dropped Layla off at home, she (shockingly) went to sleep without a problem, and I met Josh, Laura, Clay & Nicole at La Bamba (yummy Mexican) - it was great to see our dear friends and spend time with them. Another night of lack of sleep. Another depressing night. Began to think Layla would never sleep again.

Wednesday included naps on mama, packing, spending time with Josh's grandma, and then a flight back home. Layla slept basically the entire time which was good because I was beginning to go crazy from lack of sleep by then. We made it home, got out of the van, and Layla decided to throw up everywhere. A lot. I don't know what happened but it sucked. She wasn't sick - I think she had motion sickness combined with lack of sleep. We gave her a bath and thought she'd pass out happily (she LOVES her crib and room) but ended up screaming crying and throwing up twice. Josh was drunk (his only way to cope with flying) so I was alone in a horrific night of Layla waking up.

(the good news it the next night, we needed to sleep train her -- it sucked but it only took one night -- by the next night she slept basically all the way through and now she's back to napping twice a day and sleeping 11-12 hours a night. Those first few days consisted of marathon naps of 2-3 hours each... I guess she needed to make up all that lost sleep?!)

All in all, A LOVELY trip. It is always nice to be surrounded by family and friends. It was also our last trip down before baby B is born... CRAZY!!!! It's now time to get serious.

We are now in the midst of waiting for Hurricane Sandy to hit us... Josh is off of work, Layla is sound asleep in the crib and I'm hopeful and anxious but ready. I just don't want to lose power. That would stink. I pray everyone is safe and warm and has enough food to last a while!!!!

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and will update soon -- time is flying by. We have the painter coming this week, I'm waiting on a quote for our kitchen and assorted other house updates, and we have lots of fun things coming up. We celebrated Halloween this weekend at party (which is good because it appears Halloween itself will be a complete wash out) - Layla was an elepaphant and Josh & I were Juno & Pauly Bleaker (haha).

Lots of love, later gators!!!!

Elephant!!!

Hi, I'm an elephant.

RUNNING!

Thanks to pinterest....a cookie dough on the bottom, reese's peanut butter cup in the middle, brownie batter on the top mix that needed to be eaten with a spoon and was quite possibly the best thing I ever tasted.

Playing at Matt & Danielle's Halloween party!!

Love her.

So much room to run around!! (Take note of all the cars lined up -- this is the best party house ever)

hahahaha

Twins?

Pauly Bleaker and Juno?  We both look ridiculous.

3rd trimester - 27 weeks!

SO behind on posting - really need to update on our Florida trip!! Will do it this weekend.

Lots going on - we are seriously doing major house updates, finally.

Ultrasound on Tuesday was great - the plexus cysts are officially GONE!!!!! Great, fabulous and wonderful news. I still have marginal placenta previa which stinks so I'll go in for a a follow-up ultrasound in 4 weeks (November 20th). He weighed a whopping 2 pounds, 14 ounces (chunky monkey!!) and had a heart rate of 143 (love you too, buddy). He looks awesome and time is ticking on.

We had a slight panic attack this week when Josh had second thoughts about baby B's name. It was cold feet because he is back on the baby boy name but it's always subject to change!!!

To do list:

1. Clean out the nursery and get ready for the painter coming next week. I have a ton of linens I need to donate and I need to clean out the closet. I also need to move the litter box to the basement and OUT of his room. It's so gross and I need to re-wash all the clothes that I currently have hanging up.

2. Find and order a rug. Find and order decorations. Find and order lamps.

3. I need to have my brother in law, Michael, over to hang the curtains.

4. We picked up the glider/ottoman from Walmart this weekend and I"m obsessed. It's gorgeous!!

5. I need to take pictures of the entire house so we have before & after. Lots to buy and do but all very exciting!!!

Ok must run - potty break for the 5683986th time today.

I promise to update about Florida this week!!!!
Layla is amazing. I'm so in love with her, it's sick.

How far along? 27 weeks, 3 days.

Maternity clothes? All the time.
Stretch marks? So far, the same old ones. Nothing new and hoping it stays that way.
Sleep: Painful. Need to sit up completely to turn over. My back cracks in odd and weird ways.
Best moment this week: Ultrasound on Tuesday!!! He looked so great and is getting SO big.
Have you told family and friends: Oh yes.
Movement: Lots of movement. You can see if from the outside now. I keep trying to videotape it but I always miss it.
Food cravings:  Bananas. Bagels. Dessert.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.
Gender prediction: BOY!!
Labor Signs: No. But he is head down and beginning to create pressure. Blah.
Belly Button in or out? Flat and weird.
Wedding rings on or off? On! But getting tight.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!!!

26 weeks :)

Hellooooooo to the last week of my 2nd trimester!!!!

Time is marching on and we are getting close.

We are back after a fabulous and fun vacation to Florida -- we did so much (I'll write all about it this weekend) but Layla had a reaaally hard time with sleep while we were there. We are exhausted. We started sleep training again last night - she did better then anticipated and I'm hopeful by this weekend she'll be back to normal.

Plans this weekend are opened which is great - I really want to clean out the baby's room to make way for the crib, changing table and more!!

I have a painter coming this afternoon to give me a quote for our master bedroom, the new nursery and our family room.

I'll going to have to do a whole house update as we are finally making changes BUT...

here are the semi-plans.

Master Bedroom - Colors will be grey and yellow.

Nursery - Colors will be navy blue and white with grey walls.

Family Room - One wall will have stripes and the rest of the room will be solid - using cream and tan. THANKS COLBY!!!! <3

WAHOO!
Ok, must run. I'll write tomorrow about Florida for sure!

How far along? 26 weeks, 4 days.
Total weight gain/loss: I'm now up exactly 25 pounds. Unless I only gain an additional 10 pounds in the next 12 1/2 weeks, I'm screwed and will gain over the recommended amount. Wah.
Maternity clothes? All the time.
Stretch marks? I didn't use Bio Oil the entire time we were in Florida and I'm nervous - back to using it everyday tonight.
Sleep: Just rough. Lots of lower back pain, especially at night. A sad, sleepy 16 month old waking multiple times this past week while on vacation didn't help.
Best moment this week: Having maternity pictures with my dear friend, Oona - I know I look huge but I don't care that much. I love how big my belly is getting.
Have you told family and friends: No more hiding this big belly! Strangers smile and nod approvingly at my belly. It's cute.
Movement: He is ALWAYS moving. No hiccups yet but I feel like they are coming soon! He moves the most when Layla is laying on me - I always feel like he's doing it to annoy her, haha.
Food cravings:  Salad.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, feeling pretty good.
Gender prediction: BOY!!
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? So weird. Showing when I wear a tight shirt.
Wedding rings on or off? On! But getting tight... oy.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! But sleepy - wonderful week, sans sleep.

Weekly Wisdom: Don't question your parenting skills because your 16 month old is having a hard time adjusting to sleeping in a new environment. Be prepared to re-sleep train and she'll get back to her normal self soon. And it's okay to cry about it. A lot.
Milestones: Last Florida trip before the baby is born. We are now in the last stretch - 94 days until due date (87 until my C-Section). WOWZA!

SHOPPING!

A slight break from the usual family update to post this very important message.
I, Courtney, am officially addicted to online shopping.
*Hi Courtney*

No. Seriously. I'm addicted. And I am equally addicted to finding the best deals.
Am I alone?
(I mean, obviously not).

Anyhow -
I just needed to share this amazing website - Ebates.
I am NOT being paid for this (although I should!).
I just want to make sure my fellow online-addicted-shoppers are making back the money they deserve. Literally.
If you aren't familiar with this website, head on over and shop away.

Basically -
prior to any and all online shopping, you start with Ebates.
From there, you search for whatever store you choose to shop from.
That's it -
You are redirected to the store's website and you shop normally.

Here's the kicker - the stores give a percentage back to you in CASH for whatever you purchase - sometimes it's only 1%, other sites give up to 15% and higher.

I get checks in the mail. A lot of them.
Just straight up cash for doing what I was already planning on doing - shopping. You can still use any coupons you have/find via google.
It's a no brainer, honestly.

And between all of the cribs/changing tables/bedding/curtains I've been buying as of late, I'm about to be handsomely rewarded via CHECK IN THE MAIL.

Can you tell I'm excited?

Just sign up at the link above - you'll see what I mean.

Again - I'm NOT being paid for this post. I just want to make sure everyone I know realizes how cool it is to get paid to shop.
Quite literally.
Bear in mind not every store is on there - but they are always adding more which is awesome.

So have fun friends. And if you're addicted to shopping like I am, make sure you google for any coupons or promotions before clicking CONFIRM ORDER - yesterday I literally got $29 off of a $40 order. Pretty insane.

(p.s. here are a few things I've bought recently! I'll do a full room reveal once it's painted and ready - I'll do that with Layla's room too!)

Baby B's room inspiration from Project Nursery (thanks Pinterest) - I love how clean and modern it is. See that Glider? I ordered something very similar on Walmart.Com. YES!

DaVinci Kalani 4-in-1 Convertible Crib with Toddler Rail on Amazon!

My biggest splurge for the room but I LOVED them - Rugby Blackout Panels in Navy & White from Potterybarn.com.

Badger 6-Basket Changing Table from Overstock.Com!

25 weeks!!

  • So much going on - so much to write about but of course no time!!!
  • We are now the proud owners of a Chrysler Town & Country Minivan!!!! It's SO gorgeous, so luxurious, so perfect -- Ive never loved a vehicle more. It is the top of the line and I feel so spoiled. It has everything - leather, heated seats, automatic doors, two DVD players, navigation, remote start, security, etc. etc. etc. - it's just gorgeous. It's even the color I wanted (a rich, deep blue). I feel so great in it and I know our kiddies will love it!!
  • Layla & I were able to meet up with Rachel yesterday in Princeton for a girl's afternoon of lunch and a bit of shopping. It was SO good to see my best friend - having her in NYC is rough and I love our time together and can't wait to see her again soon!
  • We joined Sesame Place this weekend - I'm so excited to have season passes that extend until next October!!!
  • We go to Florida on Friday for a nice, long time! (Friday-Wednesday) - we'll start off in Orlando and then go to Fort Lauderdale. I can't wait!! Lots of plans including downtown Disney, UCF to see the campus and show Layla where we met (with tailgating for Josh), my sorority's 10 year brunch and more!!
  • This past weekend, one of my sorority sisters passed away. I remember Tiffany so vividly and it breaks my heart to hear of this TRAGIC, SUDDEN, HORRIFIC loss. No words to describe it. I'm so sad for her husband, family and best friends. Life is so short.
  • On that note... I'm off. Tales of our last family vacation as THREE when I return. xoxoxo

Not my actual van but the same style - gorgeous!!

Layla, Mama & baby boy in my belly!!

Love between Dada and Layla.

Typical Layla morning.... cup of milk snuggled on the sofa, surrounded by Mr Bear & Kyle - her two favorite stuffed animals. No idea why we named him Kyle.

Just for fun ;) Layla at 25 weeks!!!

Me at 25 weeks with Layla!!

And me at 25 weeks with BSE!! much bigger.

How far along? 25 weeks, 2 days.
Total weight gain/loss: I was too scared to weigh myself. I hate this weight-gaining-business.
Maternity clothes? I'm loving my newest maternity Mavi skinny jeans - thanks to my fabulous mother in law! I recently got new boots for fall and the past two days, I've paired them together.
Stretch marks? None yet other then the old ones I keep seeing on my sides. They're my battle wounds from gaining/losing/gaining/losing weight.
Sleep: BAAAAAAAD. Weird dreams...and I've officially started with horrific pain while turning off in bed. I had this with Layla too. It sucks. The snoogle pillow helps slightly.
Best moment this week: Getting a MINIVAN!!!! lol I'm such a MAMA!!!
Have you told family and friends: I think anyone that sees me now knows I'm preggo eggo! Lots of strangers keep asking when I'm due :)
Movement: Lots of movement.
Food cravings:  I'm always hungry. And I always want dessert.
Anything making you queasy or sick: This was a good week. The rare nausea appearance.
Gender prediction: BOY!!
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In! Funny looking.
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! Anxiety is setting in about the baby's room so I'm going to start that after our Florida trip.

Weekly Wisdom: If your husband is on a mission to get you a minivan - he will succeed!!!! :)
Milestones: I think the biggest milestone is that I'm getting to a great point in the pregnancy for the baby boy - the further along we go, the better he is! Lots of movement. And can we talk about how I'm less then 2 weeks away from the 3rd trimester?!

16 months!!

16 months and PROUD!!

Looking at her daddy!

Lounging with Mr Bear!!

I love this FACE!

Mom. I'm done taking pictures. Let me play. Thanks.

15 month stats:
Weight: 25 pounds as of Tuesday. Although, when I changed her diaper and re-weighed her while the doctor left the room, I got about 24 1/2 pounds - haha.. a half pound of pee!
Height: 31 inches
Eating: Getting better. 3 meals a day. Using spoons. 3-4 cups of organic whole milk. Tons of water.
Clothes: 12-18 month, 18 month and 18-24 month.
Diaper: Size 4. Size 5 at night.
Shoe Size: 4 1/2

My little love, Layla...
Happy 16 months to YOU!!! My days of calling you my little baby are quickly coming to an end so I'm squeezing in EVERY LAST snuggle, kiss and hand hold I can. You are an independent, walking/running/climbing, singing, dancing, jumping, talking, yelling, laughing silly machine. I simply can't get enough of you and love waking up to your smiling face every single morning.

Now that you are a walking machine, you are starting to thin out. This absolutely BREAKS my heart... I love your little rolls and they are disappearing before my eyes! You no longer look like a baby to me. Your hair is getting so long (but I refuse to cut it again, especially bangs..) - your big blue eyes glimmer in the sunlight and your little butt is the cutest thing I have ever seen. You are really, really great at walking and while you fall often, you pick yourself right back up and carry on. I still carry you a lot outside the house but I'm going to start letting you walk more to get better at balance. You are not quite great at walking in shoes so you are still mostly barefoot, but with the cooler temperatures coming soon - we need to get you in shoes everyday. We are going to buy you boots and a jacket this afternoon - it's time to get you bundled! I wish you'd keep hats on but you pull them off the second I plop one on your head. Oh well :) You are just about 50th percentile for weight, head and weight - pretty much where you have been all along! Your last doctor appointment was great and he seemed to be very impressed with your fruit obsession and talking - proud mama!

We had the swing set installed last week and I KNOW we will be using it often. You loveeee to swing and it will be hard to get you back inside, I'm sure! You are great and playing by yourself and you are starting to really get into books. We are working on letters and numbers everyday - you like to point out letters you know and you're getting good at singing the ABC's (although I'm the only one that would realize that's what you are singing..) You are cousin obsessed - every day you name every single family member and it's the sweetest, cutest thing.

You continue to learn commands and can very easily give something to someone when asked. You answer NO to mostly everything but it usually means yes. You climb on everything, unplug everything, turn off/on everything and try to get in trouble often. You giggle when I take you away so we have implemented the 10 second time-out. It doesn't work but we're working on a bit of discipline ;)

The TV/movie obsession continues... this month? Sesame Street, Tangled, Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, RIO..sometimes Aladdin, Lion King and others. We limit it and you'll continue to ask but we can distract you with music and toys! You love to hand us the remote and ask for something.. mostly RIDER! (Tangled)

You continue to sleep 11-12 hours a night and nap twice a day, usually about an hour each - sometimes more! Your bedtime is 7:30 PM and you wake up around 6:30 AM/7:00 AM most days. It's nice having more time with you during the day and you aren't exhausted as bedtime but go to bed SO easily, it's wonderful. You need Mr Bear and Kyle to fall asleep but sometimes, you throw Kyle out of the crib right away then get comfy with Mr Bear. Josh thinks Kyle keeps watch (ha ha).

The talking explosion continues as you add new words everyday - you repeat everything we say (so watch the cursing around Miss Layla!) and you seem to retain a lot. I have no doubt you are smart and dedicated and will love to learn in school.
Food is a battle but it's getting better. We discovered you love Ketchup so we're hoping that will increase your food intake. You still love all fruit, yogurt, cheese, all sweets and french fries. You can chow down on all the organic snacks I buy so it's good to keep those with us at all times! Plus a lot of them have veggies in them and it's a great way to sneak those in your diet.

Our weeks are packed with lots of fun things!! We are going to music class and having lunch with Pop-Pop every Monday. You are SO funny and love to dance and play with all the little kids, although you are a bit of a trouble maker - always touching things you shouldn't ;) We are seeing some signs of temper tantrums (crying covering your eyes and laying down on the kitchen floor in anger) but I'm hoping this passes quick! On Tuesdays, we now officially go to Romp & Roll for Toddler Tunes - it's SO much fun! Lots of new people to meet and lots of exercise and songs to dance to! Wednesdays are spent with Brooke, Thursdays at Mom-Mom and Pop-Pops house and Fridays with your mama, free as a bee to shop, run errands or play!

This weekend coming up will be your 8th trip to Florida! We are going to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale and it will be a great time. I'm a little nervous because you have been on a great schedule lately, but I know you'll adapt quickly and it'll be so much fun to spend time with your Florida family!!

We had so much fun at Shadybrook Farms this month and now that fall is here, we're ready to break out the coats (you got a new one today!) and boots and enjoy the cooler temperatures!! Halloween is approaching fast and I think you'll love all the lollipops!

3 more months as a family of 3.... we are soaking up every second. When people ask if you know there is a new baby coming, I say no. Then I remind myself that you shouldn't as you are a baby yourself!! We plan to spoil your rotten with lots of trips to the Aquarium, Sesame Place, classes, play dates and more. We love you so much and we are so proud of you - keep learning and growing my angel.

xoxoxoxoxo
MAMA!

Nothing but love for your cousin, Max.

Playing with Shluffy - take note of her delicious legs.

Fun at Shadybrook Farms!!

Love the pumpkins!!

Rosh Hashana with Mom-Mom Millie!

Playing at Sesame Place yesterday -  loved every second.

Leaving Sesame - happy, full, sleepy!
