47 weeks!!

Music Class FUN!

My little lady has been asleep since 1:40 PM - a 5 AM wake up, one nap this morning, one nap in the car PLUS this long afternoon nap?? I'm sensing teething or a growth spurt - or something strange!!

Either way, here we are at 47 weeks.

We had a great, relaxing weekend which was perfect before our next trip to South Florida on Wednesday!

Layla is amazing - eating everything in sight (meatballs, pasta salad, turkey, chicken, bagels), saying new words literally everyday (ball, Elmo, Baby, Cat, JOSH!) - and just incredibly sweet and lovable.

I'm dreading our trip down there because I can't imagine being away from her for so long but I'm also admittedly a tad excited for some major hubby & wife quality time, lots of sleep, lots of sleep and lots of eating.

I gained a couple of pounds last week while we ate our way through Orlando - I know this week will be another doozy but then I'm back on track. I have another 9 pounds to go and I know once I stop breastfeeding it will become much easier. We are now down to one feeding a day for breastfeeding - I'm SO sad and not ready to let go. I thought I'd be happy to be done with it but I was mistaken - nursing her these past (almost) 11 months has been this most amazing thing.

Today also marks a very special occasion for our dear friends, Rachel & Jason - they have left us and gone to the big city. They made their very big move to Hells Kitchen in NYC where they will be living for the next few years - I know they will do amazing there and I can't wait to visit, but it hurts my heart to not have my BFF 30 minutes from me.

AND! Most importantly of all - WE HAVE A NEW FAMILY MEMBER!! Samantha Kendall was born this morning - my brother Adam & Heather are SO excited to have a little girl. She is perfect, squishy and completely adorable - everything went well and we are so very lucky. I can't believe we now have NINE babies between the 4 of us (me, my two brothers and my sister)....

Ava, Abbey, Justin, Marley, Max, Andrew, Layla, Remi & Samantha.

6 Girls. 9 Boys. ALL amazing!!!

Cheers to a great day. Next time I write, Layla will be 11 months and we'll be in Florida for her 6th trip - holy moly.

xx

46 weeks and FLORIDA!

My sweet - sunbathing and looking lovely ;)

We are BACK!! After a week in Florida, we are home and attempting to get back to normalcy before we return to Florida in SIX days... no joke. We had a lovely time and I'm so sad it's over... a quick rundown of our trip. Of course I'm missing a million details but hopefully i remember the important stuff.

Prior to our trip, we discovered Layla had a throat infection so she started amoxocillin.

Thursday night, we left for the airport and our trip began! Layla did great on the flight and slept the entire time. It was an 8 PM flight so I was a little worried as her bedtime is 7 PM. Clearly she was okay with the later bedtime - she loved playing in the airport! The flight was slightly delayed so by the time we got our luggage and made our way back to Josh's parents, it was nearly midnight. We got Layla to bed and promptly passed out.

Friday morning, Layla woke up around 5 AM (thus beginning the week of early mornings and non-naps.. my poor girl does NOT sleep well when we're not at home). Josh's mom was eager to have some quality time so Josh & I went back to bed. We woke up, got dressed, and Layla & I headed for Boca Raton! My friend Oona was having a Matilda Jane trunk show (adorable Women & Children's clothing) - it was so nice to spend time with her and see her daughter, Isla. While we were there, Oona took a few pictures of Layla - I can't wait to schedule a full time session with her - her photography skills are incredible!! Layla slept both ways to Boca which helped a lot but I realized our schedule would basically be non-existent in Florida.. despite my best efforts. We got home and Josh's grandparents were waiting with open arms to play with Layla. We got Publix subs for lunch and hung around the house all afternoon. The rest of the day was spent playing, napping, giving baths and seeing Aunt Sydney. After the baby went to bed, Josh & I had a great dinner with Laura, Clay, Bill & Jessica - it's always good to see our friends while we visit Florida!

Saturday, after a rough night of sleep, I was beyond ready for a little mama time - I went shopping at Target and to Salon Saavy for a manicure, pedicure and waxing - so so nice! Layla played at home and enjoyed lots of family time. That night we had dinner at J. Alexanders with Josh's parents and sister - very fun and yummy too! Layla did great - she loved sharing my chicken and fries. We came home, put the babe to bed and Josh & I went to get frozen yogurt.

Sunday, we had a great breakfast with Josh's whole family (including grandparents and Aunt Diane) at Blue Moon Diner.. it was so good and great to see everyone. Layla's love of waitresses continued and her constant smile earned her a huge free milkshake. It was so sweet of the waitress that I actually let Layla have a SMALL taste of whipped cream and chocolate shake - shockingly she loved every taste. I can't wait until she has cake at her 1st birthday - she's going to love love love it. We spent the day playing and relaxing. That night, Ross & Jaime came over to meet Layla - they brought her a really sweet gift! We went to have dinner at La Bumba with them and Avi - super yummy.

Monday, we were ORLANDO BOUND! We packed up the car and drove the three hours to the city where Josh & I fell in love. We debated heading to UCF but never made it there - we'll have to show her our Alma mater one day. After a nice drive up, we checked into our beautiful hotel - The Coranado Springs. It was a GORGEOUS resort, HUGE beyond belief. We checked in, quickly saw our rooms, and headed for the pool! It was quite chilly that day (around 72 degrees and really windy) but we couldn't miss out on the sunny outdoors! We had lunch by the pool and relaxed. Layla promptly fell asleep on me and I loved every second as it's rare that she sleeps on me now that she's a little older. After she woke up, Josh took her in the pool and she hated it - uhh. Between baths and the pool, it's clear Layla is not a water lover. Bummer. We went to our rooms, unpacked, showered, gave Layla a bath in the sink (haha) and decided it was early enough that we headed to Downtown Disney! (Great idea Joshua!) - it was so nice and the perfect way to spend our evening. We walked ALL around, made t-shirts (Layla's said her name and "1st trip to Disney") and Josh surprised me with matching anniversary t-shirts (had our names, the date and our wedding date), shopped, dinner at Wolfgang Puck and lots of walking. We went back to the hotel, had ice cream and relaxed. Layla had a really rough time sleeping that night - we made it work but I felt really guilty for all the rough days/nights she was having (sleep wise) - considering the lack of sleep, she was so very happy!!

Tuesday we woke up and celebrated the fact that it was our 2nd anniversary and DISNEY DAY!!! (I will have to do another post about our 2nd anniversary...this weekend hopefully). We got dressed and off we were to the Contemporary for breakfast with the characters at Chef Mickey! It was so much fun!!! The food was better then i remembered and our table was perfect. Layla was a little nervous around the characters and cried a bit when they touched her - she was happier looking at them from a distance. We took a million pictures, ate a lot and took the monorail to the MAGIC KINGDOM! The weather was insanely perfect - 73 and sunny. No sweating! The day was spent running around and soaking up every second. Layla went on her first rides (DUMBO!), Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean. Josh & I rode Space Mountain and the new Goofy roller coaster. We did a lot of walking and playing. It was really fun! A very different experience then going to Disney World alone - having a baby with you brings on a whole new element. Lots of breaks (diapers, bottles, sunscreen) and a whole different perspective. We loved it and I think Layla will look back at pictures from her 1st trip to Disney World happily. We made our way back to the hotel, passed Layla off to her grandparents, got dressed and Josh & I made our way BACK to the Magic Kingdom for our anniversary dinner at Cinderella's Castle!! (Not without squeezing in a quick ride on Snow White first, haha) - the dinner was FABULOUS! It was expensive but worth it - we took a picture with Cinderella (included in the price) and made our way to the table. Our little table was the best in the house, at the window overlooking the carousel and park. It was so beautiful - all the princesses came around and took pictures with the guests. It was so fun! Dinner was yummy. Afterwards, Josh & I walked around, went on a few more rides and headed back to the hotel - exhausted.

Yesterday, we woke up early, packed, breakfast at Cracker Barrel (YUM!) and went to Orlando airport. After an hour delay, we finally boarded and headed home - Layla was awake the entire flight but was a gem. Played with her toys and was perfect - she cried a bit at the end (may have been her ears?) - we finally got home and couldn't have been happier. It was great to see the cats, Layla was happy to see her toys and crib, and now we are back to reality!!

It was a great vacation and memories made to last. I feel like I could sleep for weeks but I'm pushing through and looking forward to our next trip - cheers to lots of vacations, lots of family time and lots of love!! Here are a few pictures from our trip - all from my cell phone so quality isn't perfect but you get the idea! Hopefully I'll get a chance to upload my camera this weekend...

On another note, we're waiting for my sister in law, Heather, to go into labor!! Hoping it's this weekend while I'm in town!

Also, our dear friends Rachel & Jason have officially found an apartment and make their big move to NEW YORK CITY on Monday..... I will SERIOUSLY miss them and it will be tough having my best friend in another city but I wish them all the happiness in the world and can't wait to visit (OFTEN!!!!!!!)

At the airport - ready to head home - wearing her "First Trip to Disney" shirt I made her in Downtown Disney - TOO CUTE!

45 weeks!

What else is new. A quick quick quick entry in between doing 10,000 things!
A good week despite Layla's first bout with antibiotics.
She was acting funny last week - a little more fussy, a little less hungry.
We had a great weekend despite her not feeling well - played with Remi - had friends over - a play date with Jackson on Sunday - lots of outdoor playing.
On Monday, music class was cancelled (Miss Sandy hurt her back) - we headed to the doctor instead and the doctor said she had a throat infection. Poor girl. He didn't do a strep culture so I was little hesitant to treat with antibiotics - but with our flight tomorrow and being away, I didn't want to chance it - so here we are, day 3 of amoxicillin. She, of course, LOVES her medicine - practically begs for more! Too funny.

Some fun new tricks - pulling up on EVERYTHING - she can stand for a really, really long time and is getting better at figuring out how to get back down. She climbed our entire set of stairs on her 1st try. She has figured out how to pretend to talk on the phone - she picks up our cell phones (or anything that looks like a phone such as a remote or a piece of food, haha) - puts it up to her ear and nods or says "YA!" - it's amazingly funny and cute.

She is getting really into gibberish talk and her new words amaze me - yesterday she said LAYLA! Or so we think??

I have a million things on my brain - i need to pack - tomorrow night is our flight - lalalalala. I'm so excited and have been looking forward to this trip for so long.

On a side and fun note, we are getting estimates right now for a privacy fence and a DECK! I love being outside and right now our house doesn't have a great outdoor area besides our front porch - I can't wait to have a big deck as an area for us to play on!!

ALSO - I'm officially 9.2 pounds away from pre-pregnancy weight!!! We'll see when I weigh in tomorrow if I've lost anymore but I doubt it. I don't think I'll be able to lose more until I give up breastfeeding officially - as of now, Layla still nurses twice daily (when she first wakes up and once in the late afternoon/early evening). I'm so sad to give it up but I will be officially done by our Miami trip (may 2nd) - ahh.

ALSO - we got Layla's birthday invitations in the mail - SO STINKING CUTE! I'll post a picture after I send them out.

Sorry for writing to fast and horrifically - happy hump day!!
Post-bath. Addicted to standing!

My sweet girl loves it outside!

44 weeks!

Music Class concentration!

(A couple of days late)

... 44 weeks. That means in a short 8 weeks my girl will be 52 weeks. Also known as ...... ONE YEAR!
DAH.

She's been a little off the past couple of days :( Yesterday was an odd wake up time of 4:40 AM. At least the "power of 3" worked - she napped at 7:40 AM for 2 1/2 hours - and another 2 hours in the afternoon! WOO! I don't know if it's teething, growth spurt, not feeling well? She's not eating very much (at all) - we're lucky to get 15 ounces of formula down. I feel so bad. She's nursing well but I'm weaning her so she's only nursing twice a day (morning and night). I'm hoping she feels better soon!

This past weekend was a lot of fun - Friday night was Passover (Layla's first seder!), followed by our dear friend Brian's 30th birthday (Shari did an amazing job putting it together, a golf theme!), Saturday was Ava & Marley's birthday party at Bounce-U, Sunday a great day of breakfast & swings, Sunday night my mom & I went to see West Side Story at the Academy of Music, Abbey slept over & more!

All thoughts are of course on Florida... one week from tomorrow! It will be so nice to get away, swim, play in the sun, spend time with friends & family, celebrate our anniversary and of course DISNEY WORLD!!

Most exciting?? I have a NEW NIECE!! Last week, my sister went into labor (so not expected!) and after a semi-eventful morning of a c-section, my beautiful lovebug Remi Leah was born at 6 pounds, 12 ounces. She's SO SO SO cute. A perfect little bean. I was at the hospital a couple of hours after she was born (and everyday there after, haha) - my sister is doing great and so is the baby. We are so in love. I can't wait for Layla to realize there is a baby there - I know they will be best friends.

Better jet - xoxo

10 months!!!!

10 months old!!

Happy! (And ready to crawl off the rocking chair at any given second)

Attacking Mr Bear!

We meet again, Bear.

10 month stats:
Weight: I'm guessing a bit over 20 pounds?
Height: I'm guessing around 29 inches!
Eating: 3 meals a day. Snacks in between. Breast milk or formula every 2-4 hours.
Clothes: 6-9 month (small), 9 month (getting small), 12 month and some 12-18 month (a bit big).
Diaper: Size 3. Size 4 at night.

Bunny,
It seems like a distant memory when I would put you in the middle of the bed and know you weren't going anywhere. You are now one happy, curious little traveler - crawling is your favorite thing to do and you are QUITE good at it. You are fast, determined and willing to do whatever it takes to get to what you want. You are so perfect, so happy, so lovely - it makes me heart melt with pride watching you became this little person.
You are so gorgeous - Daddy said yesterday that he swears you are getting prettier everyday. Your eyes are this deep, deep blue - I can't help but stare at the in awe. Your hair is SO long - it gets in your eyes sometimes and the back is almost past your shoulders. It's a really pretty shade of light brown with hints of blond and golden red. Your skin is the perfect milky shade, I can't help but kiss and bite you all over!
It seems everyday you learn something new - of course, you are crawling everywhere and discovering things you never found before. You do "So Big!" on command, high five, wave Bye-Bye, put your hands up to get picked up, and you are basically an expert at pulling yourself up. Today you pulled yourself up on the sofa for the first time and the look of pride on your face was priceless. We have baby proofed all the outlets and removed as many wires as possible, but we need to keep a close eye on you -- your speed is your best friend and our worst enemy ;) It's hard for me to get anything done but I try to soak up every second of chasing you around as I know these are the beginning of the best days.
TV is your FAVORITE. I wish I could say I stuck to my guns about not letting you watch anything on TV until you turned two but that is out the window - you only watch Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and clap and dance in delight when it comes on. I refuse to let you watch anything that isn't (at least somewhat) educational. You also LOVE Jack's Big Music Show but for some reason we don't get it on FIOS - you watch it at Mom-Mom & Pop-Pop's house on Thursdays and they tell me how much you love it as well. I put on a DVD this week of all classical music and you were mildly entertained but quickly beelined for the plug of the DVD player instead- haha.
We are in a great pattern for sleep - bedtime is still promptly at 7 PM (with bedtime routine starting at 6:45 PM) - you wake up anywhere from 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM, with the average of 6:00 AM. I try not to get you out of our crib prior to 6 AM and you're okay with that. You play, talk to yourself, crawl around and try to stand up. You also LOVE to play with "Kyle" - the lovey we gave you to sleep with (Dada named him). Napping is always a struggle but again I THINK I figured it out!! If we put you down 3 hours after you wake up, it works! For example, yesterday you woke up at 5:30 AM - napped from 8:30 - 10:30 - napped from 1:30 - 3:30 - bed at 7!! It's the power of three, for now! So that's what I'm sticking with. You are really learning to put yourself to sleep as well - we try not to put you in the crib sound asleep so you can do it yourself.
Talking is a major accomplishment as well - my little genius!! Your words include - MAMA, DADA, DAT (Cat), MOM-MOM, POP-POP, WUBBA (Grover), UH-OH, BYE-BYE. I think you are trying to say NO and HI but haven't quite mastered them yet. You are SO SO SO smart - I can't say it enough.
FOOD! My little piggy - you love to eat, eat, eat!! Anything mama is eating, you want as well. I've been basically giving you all foods lately - you've tried every fruit and veggie, yogurt (Yo-Yo baby organic yogurt), cheese, chicken, pasta, matzoh balls - you even loved gelfite fish last night at your first passover Seder! Next up? Spaghetti and sauce!!! You have also become a pro at the sippy cup! You love to drink water and do so all day, everyday. There are two different types of cups you like so I'll stick with those! I'm so proud of you as I know the days of bottles are winding down and we'll need to switch to all cups soon.
I can't tell if you have six or seven teeth - but either way you have a mouth full of them! They are so cute and I love when you smile and show me all your little white pearls!!
We started music class this week - Spring session!! It was so much fun - you finally really got it - participating by shaking the instruments, dancing, laughing and crawling around. I love how all the kids take care of you and help you as well - you have lots of great friends!

You officially made the switch to big girl car seat - Daddy & I each got the Britax Marathon - they are the safest - only the best for you. It's weird not having the carrier anymore but we've passed it on to your newest cousin, Remi Leah!! (Born 4/4/12 - More on that in another entry!)

Spring is here - it was actually a lot warmer the end of winter then it has been the beginning of spring, but we've been outside a few times - we went to the zoo, swings and more. Brooke, your nanny, takes you for nice long walks on Wednesdays and she tells me how much you love it :)

We have SO much coming up over the next month - in 2 1/2 weeks we go back to South Florida for your FIFTH trip!!! Plans include lots of family time, lots of swimming and your first trip to DISNEY WORLD!!! We are so excited - it's our 2nd wedding anniversary so we have lots to celebrate... I think you will love Mickey and Minnie and the gang!! A week after we get home from that trip, we head BACK to Florida for your SIXTH trip - this time you will be staying with Grandma & Grandpa for FOUR days while Mama & Dada have some time together in Miami. I am VERY nervous to leave you but I know you'll do great -- it'll be good for everybody and I am so excited.

Your 1st birthday is fast approaching - it's all booked - the theme is finally set (SESAME STREET!), and your invitations will be ordered today!!! We can't believe it's almost been 1 year - by far, these past 10 months have been the most magical and rewarding time of my life - you are the best thing we've ever done.

We love you, BUNNY!
forever,
Your mama
